Title : Seahorse-training; sweat, fun and good companionship: A physiotherapeutic and occupational therapeutic neurophysiological approach for children and mental health.

Abstract:

This speak focuses on mental health in children and adolescents and how we, as physiotherapists, play a crucial role as collaborative partners in facilitating the wellbeing of the child and the young person.

The bio-psycho-social perspective on mental health takes center stage, delving into neurophysiological changes and challenges observed when the nervous system has been overloaded for an extended period.

We will also explore the neurophysiological and psychosomatic consequences of poor mental health, such as stomachaches, poor sleep, palpitations, nausea, and impacted frontal lobes. Finally, the workshop will provide suggestions on how, by 'feeding the seahorse' with sweat, fun, and positive neurotransmitters, we can assist children and adolescents in achieving better well-being.
